How to grow your blog traffic monetizing your blog

If you’ve been following along on my blog for any length of time, you may be following my blogging journey, as a whole, as well. In early February, I wrote this post about the growth of my website traffic in the one month since joining the Billionaire Blog Club   and how to monetize your blog. I wrote that in just one month of employing the practices taught in the course, my web traffic increased 121%.  That was amazing, for certain, but I thought that a true picture would emerge after following the course principles over a three month period.  With the end of the first quarter of 2018, I thought it was a good time to take a closer look.

I am simply amazed at the growth that I have experienced.  Take a look at this comparison of fourth quarter 2017 to first quarter 2018.

growth of web traffic

487%!!!   That is not a mistake.  In all of fourth quarter 2017, I had 13,442 page views. In first quarter 2018 (I joined Billionaire Blog Club on January 1st, 2018), my page views jumped to 78,983! During that time I have been a part of the Gourmet Ads advertising network and have been earning a modest amount for ad revenue while increasing my page views.  The goal was to reach the required amount of sessions (25K) in a thirty day period to apply to Mediavine Ad Network.  I’m pleased to say that I surpassed that number in March and am awaiting a reply on my Mediavine application!

I’ve also successfully joined several affiliate marketing programs and have been earning from those, as well.  They include: Pureflix, Amazon, and others. These ad network and affiliate programs are in addition to the earnings from my own courses.

While I’d like to say that I had been paving the way for blog success all along, the reality is that until I dove into Billionaire Blog Club and put the taught practices into place, I wasn’t getting very far.  Running a successful blog is hard work.  Unless you have a blueprint to follow along, you are just meandering down a country path not forging ahead to the winner’s circle.

Billionaire Blog Club

The course, which will be releasing its 4.0 version on April 5, 2018 (but the doors will only be open until 4/13 then not until later this year), covers nearly every aspect of building a successful blog and monetizing your blog including:

  • Using Pinterest for blog traffic
  • Email marketing
  • Affiliate marketing
  • SEO
  • Niche selection
  • Content Creation
  • Google Analytics
  • WordPress Plugins
  • Growing your email list
  • and much, much more.

Where Do I Begin Starting a Blog to Make Money?

If you are new to blogging (especially, if you have not, yet launched), you’ll want to start with Niche Selection and then move to Content Creation before going any further.  If you have an established blog, you can jump into the Pinterest courses of the program, but I do recommend that you review Niche Selection and Content Creation when you have time.

Here’s the thing:  you may love writing about fashion for goldfish, but can you make money with it?  Not all niches are created equal when it comes to making money on your blog.

If your goal is to write about goldfish fashion because you have a passion for it, but you don’t intend to monetize your blog, that’s fine.  If however, you hope to earn a living with your blog, you may want to reconsider your niche. (Some experts claim that Christian or religion-based blogs are not in the top ten for earning income, but others insist that they are among the top. While I, of course, have been monetizing my blog and make money from it, my passion is what drives me – I have the best of both worlds – a niche that I am passionate about and one that many experts agree is a highly valuable niche).

Content Creation For Your Blog

So you have your niche, now what? Billionaire Blog Club walks you through finding the best post topics and how to use the skyscraper and other methods to add valuable content to your blog that will have your readers clamoring for more.

Pinterest- The King (Or Queen) of Blog Traffic Sources

You can have the greatest SEO practices in the world, but as a new or burgeoning blog, you simply won’t get much traffic.  You have to direct readers to your blog somehow.  Of course you can share your blog posts all over the place (see this article on where to share your blog posts)  but by tapping into the power of Pinterest, you are grabbing the attention of an audience who is already looking for what you are looking to share.  In fourth quarter 2017, web traffic to my blog from Pinterest was just over 21%. In first quarter 2018, it was nearly 85%.  Pinterest drove readers to my site in, well, droves!

Billionaire Blog Club teaches not just how to use Pinterest for blog traffic but how including the anatomy of a good pin, keywords and tools such as BoardBooster to automate the pinning process.  The Pinterest courses in Billionaire Blog Club alone were well worth the cost of program. Using Pinterest, in my opinion, is required for monetizing your blog.

SEO for The Rest of Us

Once you’ve established your niche, planned and written great content and started using Pinterest to drive traffic to your site, then, you can focus heavily on SEO.  From the beginning of my blog, I used the SEO by Yoast Plugin which has nearly every tool that a blogger needs to get started with SEO.  It is a robust tool (even the free version, which I use) but for more on the hows and whys of SEO and using best practices, the Billionaire Blog Club SEO course will walk you the rest of the way.

Since my blog had already been established with over one hundred posts at the time that I joined Billionaire Blog Club, I went through each post and optimized it for SEO (including recreating most of the pins and keywords).  It’s still a work on progress, but I am seeing the hard work pay off.

Monetizing Your Blog

If you have big plans to retire off the coast of Tahiti from the profits of your blog, you’ll need a roadmap to get you there.  There are many ways to make money from blogging including advertising networks, affiliate income and selling your own courses or products.  In Billionaire Blog Club, Paul Scrivens, Blog Master (and earning boatloads from his own blogs), outlines each of these ways and shares best practices to earn money from each.

BBC deep dives into what to look for in an affiliate program, how to share your affiliate links and best practices for emailing your growing list.

Why Billionaire Blog Club was the Best Investment in my Blog

Why am I taking all of this time to tell you about my greatest secret in growing and monetizing my blog?  I believe that there’s plenty of success to go around and that if I ate at a great restaurant, you’d expect me to tell you why it’s so great.  It’s the same with Billionaire Blog Club.  I’ve spent thousands of dollars on other programs which taught me a few things here and there, but nothing, and I mean nothing, compares to the value in BBC.

In addition to the amazing courses included in the program, the Slack community is worth just as much, in my opinion.  In it, you’ll find fellow bloggers from all over the world answering your questions, celebrating your victories and commiserating over your hurdles.  They are truly among the greatest people in the blogging world.

Finally, and by no means last in importance, is the sheer availability of the instructor, Paul Scrivens.  Have a question?  Email or post in Slack and he will personally answer your question. Personally.  That’s why the program is only offered on an intermittent basis.  Scrivs takes the time to personally help each and every member with their unique blogging issues.

If you are ready to make the last investment you’ll ever need to make money from your blog, join Billionaire Blog Club.  If you aren’t quite ready to take the plunge, consider joining the 12 Day Blogging Bootcamp to get a feel for Scriv’s style of teaching and get a leg up on growing and monetizing your blog.
